Jack has a tremendous, inspirational vision and track record. Now he needs the support of all of us to help save and develop the current and future generations of America’s Youth! Some say we’ve lost 1-2 generations of kids. It’s time to get involved and create a better future!

My name is Brad Manilla and I am the videographer that helped put this video grant proposal together for Jack. To put it quite simply, I’ve never seen any opportunity to impact your LOCAL community quite like this in the hands of such a capable individual. It was obvious from watching Jack interact with the kids he’s helped previously that they truly respect, love and look up to him because he genuinely cares about them…something they are not used to. You can rest assured that a donation to Character Build, no matter how small or large, is a valuable investment in your community’s, country’s and children’s future.

I have known Jack Bardsley for several years, as we share the same hobby, classic cars, and more importantly, the same life values. Jack has always been concerned with the needs of young people, especially those in crisis. For several years he ran several major programs at the State of Rhode Island Training School, and on several occasions I have attended events hosted by Jack at the Training School, events designed to motivate the kids to turn their lives around and become productive members of society. While I was there I had the opportunity to view Jack’s interaction with the kids and the rapport he had with them. Also Jack has great organizational and management skills, I have come to know this first hand because we run a classic car “Cruise night” to benefit local charities. Jack has maintained remarkable people and management skills while juggling several tasks at one time. I am proud to have Jack as a friend.

Jack’s passion for this population of at-risk kids runs deep. I met Jack while working at Straight Ahead Academy where he commuted two hours each day (one way!) to run the top notch vocational automotive and woodworking shops. During his tenure at the academy, Jack built relationships with the kids which continue to this day even though the Academy had to close its doors. His commitment to reopen the doors of the academy, to see lives changed through building skills, confidence and self-esteem and providing a safe, nurturing alternative for these kids is real. This is truly an amazing opportunity to support and resurrect the dream and make it a reality.

OVER THE PAST 4 OR 5 YEARS I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY, ALONG WITH DICK MC CORMACK, MIKE MOONEY, FRED ALLARD AND MANY OTHERS, TO ATTEND FUNCTIONS JACK HAS SPONSORED AT THE RI JUVENILE LOCK UP. THE VOLUNTEER EFFORTS JACK PUTS FORTH TO BENEFIT THESE AT RISK KIDS IS EXTRAORDINARY TO SAY THE LEAST. HIS ABILITY TO INTERACT AND CONNECT WITH THIS POPULATION IS SIMPLY AMAZING. IT’S SELF EVIDENT THE KIDS HE WORKS WITH TRULY RESPECT AND TRUST HIM. THE WORD TRUST IS A VERY DIFFICULT THING FOR THESE KIDS TO ACQUIRE AND LATCH ON TO. THEY HAVE BEEN DECEIVED SO MUCH BY ADULTS AND OTHER KIDS AS WELL THAT TRUST IS AN ISSUE THAT THEY LEARN TO AVOID AT ALL COSTS. YET THEY TRUST AND INTERACT WITH JACK IN WONDERFUL WAYS, HE HAS AN ABILITY TO CONNECT WITH THEM THAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T.

I ASK THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE A HEART FOR THIS TYPE OF WORK TO PLEASE TAKE A GOOD LONG LOOK AT WHAT JACK AND HIS STAFF HAVE TO OFFER OUR YOUTH AND SUPPORT THEIR EFFORTS.

    THANK YOU

I have known Jack for over 20 years. He is honest, smart and passionate about what ever he becomes involved with. This program is one he has been involved with and is passionate about. I encourage anyone with the slightest propensity to help our youth and our future to give whatever possible time, service, monetarily or support in another way to this endeavor. We as a society will pay either through the cost of law enforcement, incarceration, legal fees, rehabilitation and the loss of a productive citizen or through comprehensive programs of positive guidance for these kids. The latter is much more productive.

In my profession I meet many people per week. I’ve becomed skilled at identifying who is sincere and genuine and whom isn’t. Jack is genuine. When so many of us choose to not get involved Jack choose to do something about it. He is turning around the lives of some kids that would otherwise become prison inmates. These kids have build defenses that insulate them. They can also sense who is genuinely has their interest at heart. Its that trusting relationship with Jack that allows Jack to get through their defenses and make a change in their lives.

When I make a donation to a cause, I write a check and very often wonder just how that donation is being used or how much of it reaches those in need. With Jack you know exactly how your donation is being applied. Your donation has a direct impact on helping Jack turn a kids life away from prison and turning that kids life into productive member of society.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Jack for almost 2 decades and in that time he has been an inspiration on several levels. I credit this to his capacity to believe. Not just in himself & his actions, but those who he shares his focus with. He’s a High Definition, Big Picture thinker with heart and drive. Given the resources Jack continually expands the horizons for anyone that he effects. Proof positve that he achieves what he believes!

My heart is pounding and my brain is spinning as I think of all the transformational possibilities that this strenghth-base program will provide for our at-risk youth. Mr. Bardsley’s vision truly understands what it is all about: It’s about relationships and supporting a youth’s dreams and life vision. It’s about providing a program that does something FOR the child, not TO him. It’s about staff members who RESPOND to a youth’s needs rather than REACT to his problems. It’s about teaching youth that problems are only opportunities for learning. It is very clear to me that Mr. Bardsley is opperating through the lense of servant leadership. This will only trickle down to his staff who in turn will develop trusting relationships with youth that will most likely blossom into life long friendships. Although this venture is starting out in Massachusetts, I am looking forward to the possibility that this program may one day expand to my neck of the woods. Hurry up please. Our kids in Michigan are in need of a transformational program such as yours!

I have known Jack for a few years now having met while involved in the classic car hobby. In the time that I have known him I have found Jack to be a stand-up guy always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, never asking for anything in return. I’ve found that Jack is passionate about helping those in need, especially at risk kids. I have personally seen the results when good kids that are put in bad situations have gotten a chance. Jack’s program works! The kids I’ve met that Jack has worked with were honest, responsible, and respectful. The exact opposite of what I expected. It was a joy and an honor to have met some of these kids and seen how far they had come. It was also great to see them with so much optimism, that they could become anything they wanted in life, that they had escaped their pasts and were back on the right path. I truly believe that Jack’s program will be a success and he will accomplish this program with vigor and tenacity as he always does. Please support Jack in this program, with all the negativity in the world these days, it is refreshing to see something positive.

I was the Director of Advancement for Straight Ahead Ministries and worked with Jack. I was witness to the absolute love that he has for at-risk kids. His passion even when SAM was open was to provide these kids with a place they can be loved, worship, learn a skill and be a positive impact back into society. Here we are 13 months since the Academy closed and Jack is still trying to raise money to open a place up for at-risk kids. He has integrity, vision and ownership as a steward. Please help support Jack in this program. I would be a happy to speak with anyone regarding Jack and his vision for kids. In His name we pray. Serge Jn3:16

Jack has a vision and a passion for helping at risk kids.Additionally God has given him a unique ability to relate to these kids where they don’t relate to others. Jack has an opportunity to set up a model that can be transferrable to other states and could become a national program. He just needs some help getting the program off the ground. This is an opportunity to help our future generation through someone who already has a track record of success with our at risk youth.

I met Jack about 15 years ago through the old car hobby. He has always had a passionate interest in helping the less fortunate. I had the opertunity to work with Jack at the training school on 2 occasions, and he has a way of earning the kids respect, and getting through to them that few people have. I hope he gets the support he needs for this program. There are a lot of kids who can benifit from his teachings.
